Curated 4- and 6-hour private tours with flexible options in Japan’s Golden Route cities, led by knowledgeable local guides.
From the ancient temples and shrines of Kyoto to the bowing deer and Great Buddha in Nara, our 4- to 6-hour private tours move through places most visitors only pass through quickly. In Osaka, that means the covered shopping streets where the city’s culture really lives. In Tokyo, it’s the shift between neighborhoods and station areas, each with its own pace and feel. In Nagoya, you see the city’s ties to samurai culture and how that still shapes the Japan you see today. Walking the cities this way gives you a better sense of how each place actually works, beyond what you’re supposed to see.
Choose between 4- or 6-hour private walking tours, depending on how much time you want to spend exploring. A 4-hour tour keeps things focused in one area and is perfect for those who want a solid introduction, with time later to continue exploring on their own. A 6-hour tour gives you more room to slow down, see more, and go a bit deeper beyond the main sights.
Walk with a local guide who explains what you’re seeing as you go, answers your questions, and helps you make sense of the city in a way that’s easy to follow, built on over 25 years of living and traveling in Japan.
Private walking tours for your group (up to six guests), giving you the flexibility to move at your own pace, ask questions, and shape the experience as you go. Slightly larger groups can also be accommodated on request.

After 25 years of living and traveling across Japan, I started Nippon Navigators to offer a more natural way to see these cities. We don't just hit the main sights; we focus on how a place actually feels when you're moving through it on foot. My goal is to show you how the city works, from the famous landmarks to the backstreets and local spots most people walk right past. Whether you're a couple or a family, we handle the planning and the timing so you can just walk and take it in without worrying about what comes next.

Tours are private and typically limited to your group of up to six guests. We can sometimes accommodate slightly larger groups on request.
The tour fee covers your guide’s time and expertise. Meals, transport (Subway, Train or Taxi), and entrance fees are not included, and you’ll also cover these costs for your guide during the tour.
We usually meet at a convenient spot within your tour area to get started right away. If your hotel is within our central service area, we can meet you in the lobby instead—just keep in mind that the tour time begins at the hotel, not when we reach the first site. We’ll iron out all these details together while planning your day.
